Mitsui operates the Waitsia gas field in the Perth Basin and together with fellow Japanese trading house Mitsubishi owns one-sixth of the North West Shelf LNG project and has an interest in Browse LNG.
Fortescue and Mitsui appear to have agreed massive emissions cuts with WA's environmental watchdog that is now looking at Woodside and Chevron LNG projects.
